So, I’ve been following the Jeremy Lin phenomenon in the USA. Summary: Asian-American basketball player comes out of nowhere for the New York Knicks as a sporting phenomenon. It’s a great cultural narrative. Is he getting attention just for being Asian? Well, yes and no. His skill and achievements are apparently pretty incredible no matter what his race. But yes, Asian-Americans are going crazy to have a sporting hero who has broken the race barrier in basketball. In the meantime, he’s a soft-spoken religious fellow, who considered becoming a pastor, so religious folks are apparently quite pleased with him as well.
So, check out this post on the blog, I Am Yellow Peril, which talks about how Lin’s popularity could increase the changes of gay Asian men getting laid. The post has gone viral.
And the blog looks great too, I’ll have to read more posts.
